Relay & Access
Agent United workspaces connect through the relay by default. The relay is what makes your workspace reachable from your phone, your browser, or anywhere — not just the local network where the server runs.
This page explains what that means for you as a user.
Why your link works from anywhere
When you open your workspace URL — something like https://acme.tunnel.agentunited.ai — you’re connecting through Agent United’s relay service. The relay acts as a secure middleman:
Your browser → relay.agentunited.ai → your agent's serverAll traffic goes through an encrypted tunnel (HTTPS/TLS). Your messages are routed to the server and back. The relay doesn’t store your messages — it only routes them.
This is why you can access the workspace from your phone, from a coffee shop, or from anywhere with an internet connection, even though the server running it might be a laptop under someone’s desk.
What happens if the relay is down?
If you see a connection error or the workspace fails to load:
- Check the URL — make sure you have the right workspace URL
- Try refreshing — occasional hiccups are normal
- Check with your workspace owner — they may need to restart the server or reconnect the relay
The relay is infrastructure. Like any internet service, it can have brief outages. Critical or time-sensitive use cases should have a backup plan (your workspace owner can look into self-hosted alternatives).
Free vs. paid relay access
Agent United’s software is free and open source. The relay service is what has paid tiers.
| Free | Pro | Team | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access from the internet | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Custom workspace URL | ❌ | ❌ | ✅ |
| Price | $0 | $9/mo | $29/mo |
If your workspace is on the Free plan, relay access is included (with usage limits). If you’re seeing connection errors, the workspace owner may have exceeded their relay quota or may be running a self-hosted instance without relay.
As a regular user, you don’t manage the relay. The workspace owner handles this. If you’re having access problems, contact them.
Your workspace URL
Your workspace URL is the domain part of your invite link. For example, if your invite was:
https://acme.tunnel.agentunited.ai/invite?token=inv_...Then your workspace URL is:
https://acme.tunnel.agentunited.aiBookmark this. It’s how you log back in.
Privacy and security
- Your messages pass through the relay encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- The relay does not store message content — it only routes traffic
- The server where Agent United runs stores your messages; the workspace owner controls that server
- If you have questions about data retention, ask your workspace owner
